After your session, nothing feels better than wrapping up in a big fluffy robe and stepping into a comfy pair of slippers. Choose absorbent materials like cotton or linen and keep them for sauna use only. It makes the whole thing feel a bit more special, like a spa day at home. A thermometer comes in is essential in any sauna, our saunas come complete with a wall mounted thermometer. Most people aim for somewhere between 70°C and 100°C, though personal preference and bravery levels vary.
A hygrometer lets you track the moisture levels inside your sauna. This is especially useful if you enjoy a more humid experience with lots of steam.
Sauna Timer
It’s easy to lose track of time when you’re sitting deep in conversation in a sauna. A traditional hourglass style sauna timer adds both charm and function. Flip it as you enter, and you’ll know exactly when it’s time to come out and cool off.
They’re often mounted on the wall and come in wood or glass designs. It’s a simple touch that adds a bit of ritual to your session.

Sauna Pillows and Backrests
A wooden backrest or a sauna pillow make it easier to relax and let your muscles do their thing without developing plank induced back ache. Wooden backrests are angled just right to support your back. Pillows, often made of linen or sauna safe foam, let you lie back in bliss. Essential Oils
A few drops of essential oil in your water bucket can transform your sauna into a multi sensory haven. Eucalyptus is the crowd favourite whilst Pine makes you feel like you’ve been transported into a Scandinavian forest. Only ever use oils that are specifically made for saunas. Normal essential oils might not handle the heat well and could release unpleasant or even harmful fumes.

Fancy a little background music or guided meditation while you sweat it out? Waterproof sauna safe speakers are now available and can link up with your phone via Bluetooth. Just make sure your speaker is designed for high heat and humidity, otherwise it’ll be a very short musical career.

If you share your sauna with friends or family, a cheeky sauna rules sign can add a bit of humour while keeping everyone on the same page. Things like “No phones”, “Bring your own towel” or “First to leave makes the tea”.
